Another Week (Few days left till payday - whoo hoo!!!)
I thought I would be blogging over the weekend - didn't happen - instead I was doing chores.... As I said The Boyfriend went up North skiing with his boys and I stayed home...

He came back on Sunday - in time to take me to Build-a-Bear ... I am making a Home Video to send back to my Grandmom in Zimbabwe for her 60th Birthday (since I won't be able to go down).... so I "Built-a-bear" for her - while The Boyfriend filmed me.

We just vegged out when we got home - The Boyfriend ordered the Hustler Channel on Cable (coz one of his buddies has it - 24 hour porn)... and we watched a bit of porn - mostly amateur - but amusing all the same - although I did find some of it disturbing - they were doing a special called "Real College Girls" or something - where they go around to several colleges to see girls who will participate in a porno - the girls show their Student Cards as proof that they are infact students at their respective college, the first girl slept with 2 guys she didn't know (big deal right) - but the thing I found disturbing was that they did not use protection... Like WTF? and pretty much the same for all girls - One was a British girl - she got DP'd by her boyfriend and his friend - again no protection .... Shouldn't these people be using protection? - I mean really...

Weekend Plans
T.G.I.F. - The weekend's here - and I'm a week closer to payday - The boyfriend is going skiing with his boys this weekend (he leaves tonight and promises to return in time for me to go to the Build-a-Bear Pink Poodle Party on Sunday.

Sometimes I wonder how he handles me (The Boyfriend), I mean there he is, a 40 year old professional whose girlfriend (Me) is still into kids toys and games...He's idea of a Friday night well spent is out with friends having a drink (or 10), and mine is - surfing the net, playing Monopoly online and (what I'll be doing tonight)playing "The Sims" on Playstation.(What are you - 10?)

I'm just not into the club scene anymore, it's like the same old thing... The only one of my friends that I enjoy going out with is always too busy with work and stuff - and then there's my roommate, who is an absolute club fiend - she's a sweetie, but the problem with going out with her is that she wants attention - and I don't, and when we go out - I have guys on my case, which may have been flattering a couple of years ago, but is frankly - just plain annoying now...the last time time I went out with my roommate, by the end of the night she was complaining that she didn't look that good - and she didn't really enjoy herself... She looked great, and I figure the main reason I was getting all the attention was coz I was a new face (the club we went to was one of her regular hangouts) But that's the thing - everytime I'm got out with her, it's always something... whereas when I go out with my girl (who's always working), we have fun, coz it's just us - it doesn't matter whether we get attention or not - hell the club could be empty and we'd still have fun and even if we do have people tryna pick us up there's no animosity if one gets more than the other - it's just us - out to have a good time - dancing and drinking and laughing ... No drama... I miss her, but such is life


So, in an attempt to be more active (or at least get out of the apartment more) I have put together a new schedule for myself for the next little while:

Monday Nights
Starting on February 2nd, 2004, I will be taking Improv classes @The Second City in an attempt to build up my Resume

Tuesday Nights
Ice Skating with The Boyfriend and his daughter (and possibly his father too)

Wednesday Nights
Starting next Wednesday (January 14th), I'll be taking Latin-Ballroom dancing classes with The Boyfriend

The Rest of the Week
Still undecided - possibly Ice-skating or Skiing with the boyfriend and his daughter on Thursdays and who knows what on Fridays.

It's the day before the weekend - whoo hooo - I went to my agent yesterday to look at the contact sheets for my new portfolio - not bad - although I'm not very good at posing - I come out much better in natural shots...my agent commented on my pics saying in one particular outfit - I'm displaying this knockout body, but a very innocent face... lol - ahhh yes that's my trap :-)

All in all the pics didn't come out too bad...(I needed new headshots anyway). SO my pictures are out of the way - next step in that department - more acting classes - Looking to start probably next month - we'll see.

The boyfriend and I went skating yesterday (this time without his daughter since last night was mummy's night) - I fell at about 3 times (and boy did it hurt) but I'm loving it (although I was freezing! I'm not built for this weather - past winters I've hibernated). But I really do want to learn how to be graceful on skates... all in good time (I hope). As of next week we should be taking Latin-Ballroom dancing classes (sounds fun).

Today we get baby again (The boyfriends daughter). She is the prettiest little girl, and I adore her, but... she's a spoilt brat - who crys when she doesn't get her way (but then again aren't most 4-5 years olds like that). I've spoken to the boyfriend about starting her on a chore/allowance program at home, so she learns the value of money... coz, I tell you this Christmas I realised exactly how spoilt these kids are - I mean every time she finished opening one gift - she say "Oh that's nice", toss it aside and ask for another one... and she got alot of gifts.

She has 2 older sisters (10 and 11), who are not The Boyfriends kids, but are his ex-wifes kids and up until recently, we used to get them once a week too... They opened their gifts and their reaction was pretty much the same... (I had got each of the girls 3 gifts, the boyfriend got them more).

I thought, maybe that's just the way kids are, but when I went down to visit my dad, I watched the way my younger sisters reacted to their gifts (they are 10 and 11 too), and they were so happy - the way I remember being when I opened my gifts at Christmas and they were surprised to get more than one gift as opposed to being expectant...

Where am I going with this, I don't know - but here I am, no kids of my own, dealing with a guy with kids who love me off (and who I love very much) and I desperately wish there was a way of teaching them the value of stuff without crossing the line (ie. Trying to be their mother)...

I supposed millions have been here, and I am thankful that the ex-wife is no-way towards me when it comes to the girls (Infact she has actually thanked me for being to great with the kids). So I do appreciate that (even though she does give The Boyfriend hell!!!

I dunnoo, now I'm just rambling, but such is life...

I should get back to work..

Mid-Week Blahs

Now Playing: Once again the sweet sound of traffic...
Back at work again... :-) Ice Skating was fun yesterday, went with the boyfriend and his daughter (who got her first skates for Christmas)...
Quite an experience ... Go figure, here I am, born and bred African, not exactly my cup-o-tea, but hey, I can't believe how much fun I had.... as we were putting on our skates a young guy named Alex came over to talk to us... he ended up taking me out on the ice to teach me to skate while the boyfriend taught his daughter. Turns out Alex is a streetkid, I got to speaking with him, he says his 19 years old, came up here from California (though why he would leave the warmth to come up here and freeze I can't figure out)...So I asked him the questions that I've been dying to ask (ever since I've been here from home (which is about 4 years), I've been trying to figure out why we have so many people living on the streets when there are so many opportunities available.

My first question to young Alex was why, why live on the streets - he says his parents abandoned him when he was about 13 years old, so he's had to fend for himself.
Where does he sleep? - Under a bridge In This Cold? He says he has lots of comforters.
Why not go to a shelter? They are a bunch of bull... (he won't use bad language in front of a lady)
How do you make money to survive Panhandling - teaching people to skate (although I'm not asking you for money)

Well, unfortunately, as much as I wanted to, I didn't end up giving him any money because - well, I didn't have any on me and he had to leave to go have dinner (one of his friends came to call him) before we were done skating... I will be going back tonight.
